About Us

OUR STORY
Spear Foundation was initiated by the youth of Ward 3 in eNdwedwe. After completing matric, many were unable to further their studies due to financial constraints — which inspired them to establish a non-profit organisation to address the challenges facing their community.
Before formal registration, the group conducted a research project and compiled a database of unemployed youth in the area, which was submitted to the Department of Social Development (DSD). Through community mobilisation sessions, the organisation identified unemployment, lack of skills development, gender-based violence, and high crime rates as the major challenges affecting Ward 3 — issues driving cycles of poverty, vulnerability, and social instability.
In response, Spear Foundation was formed to empower and support the community — particularly women and youth — through skills training, psychosocial support, GBV awareness, and community development. The founding youth group was established on 21 February 2025 and is also known as Deep Mystery.
Our Vision
To be a proactive organisation that is responsive to the challenges of gender-based violence (GBV), HIV/AIDS, COVID-19, and other social and health issues affecting our communities — promoting safety, equality, and access to quality health care and support for all.
Our Mission
To reduce the number of unemployed youth and empower survivors of gender-based violence through skills development, psychosocial support, and awareness programmes that restore dignity, equality, and independence. We aim to be a leading provider of community-based initiatives that address social injustices, promote healing, and strengthen families within eNdwedwe and surrounding areas.
